Lifetime Fitness 7120 (HL) 10-12 .5
Fees: Additional fee for outside school activities (approx. $10)
This course is designed for continued improvement of physical fitness. The course content includes an understanding of the components of fitness, i.e., heart-lung fitness, strength, flexibility, muscle endurance, weight control/nutrition, and stress management. This class is required for graduation.

This is a full year course. One semester will be Lifetime Fitness (7120), one semester will be Weight Training 1 (7130).

This course is designed to help individuals become physically fit and trim through continuous movement activities to music.

Ballroom Dance 1 7144 (A, HL) 11-12 .5
Prerequisite: Teacher approval
This course offers instruction and practice in the basic social dance steps, rhythms, and techniques. The following dances may be included: fox-trot, cha-cha, waltz, swing, mambo, western swing, and western line dance. Performances and rehearsals outside of the regular school day may be required and will constitute a portion of the course grade.

Ballroom Dance 2 7145 (A, HL) 11-12 .5
Prerequisite: Ballrom Dance 1 and Teacher approval
This is an intermediate course offering instruction and practice in intermediate ballroom dance steps, rhythms and techniques. Performances as well as rehearsals outside the school day are required and will constitute a portion of the course grade.

This course offers instruction in the basic fundamentals of dance techniques and composition.

Dance 2 7141 (A, HL) 10-12 .5
Prerequisite: Dance 1 or Instructor approval.
This class teaches intermediate dance technique with emphasis on techniques, choreography, and improvisation.

Prerequisite: Dance 2 or Instructor approval.
Fee: $20
This is an advanced course in dance technique, with further development of skills in choreography and composition.

Dance Company 7143 (A, HL) 10-12 1.0
Prerequisite: Audition
Fee: District fee TBA

Participants in this course will be part of a performing group. Members refine skills in all forms of dance and choreography. School and community performances are given throughout the year. Performances as well as rehearsals outside of the regular school day are required and constitute a portion of the course grade.

Lifeguard/First Aid 7121 (HL) 11-12 .5
Prerequisite: 15+ years old. Pretest: swim 500 yards without stopping (100 freestroke, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, 200 any stroke), retrieve 10 lb brick from bottom of pool and swim across pool with it.
Fee: Paid to Marv Jenson Fitness Center. Pretest costs $10 and is nonrefundable. Course costs approx. $150.

This course teaches basic lifeguard and first aid techniques. CPR and lifeguard certification are available upon successful completion of the course. Important! This class is located at Marv Jenson Fitness Center at 10300 S Redwood Road. Students must provide their own transportation.

This course offers instruction and practice in the fundamentals of golf, bowling, archery, tennis, badminton, and table-tennis.

This course is designed as an introduction to proper weight lifting techniques. The course includes the development of individual programs to develop body tone, muscle strength, and physical conditioning.

This course is a continuation of Weight Training 1 emphasizing further development of programs that develop body tone, muscle strength, and physical condition.

Power Lifting 7132 (HL) 10-12 .5/1.0
Prerequisite: Coach approval
This is an advanced weight training course which offers instruction in heavy power lifting routines. This course stresses strength, weight gains and flexibility for injury prevention and agility. The course is designed to offer a higher level of proficiency and more indepth instruction in weight training. Training principals are taught and students learn how they impact a lifetime of physical fitness. Students learn that weight training is a fitness activity with many benefits, including improving personal health, increasing longevity, and quality of life through the reduction of stress. Through focused instruction, students are able to identify the benefits and dangers of various dietary supplements such as vitamins, minerals, herbs, power drinks, steroids, and performance enhancing drugs.
