The Riverton High School State Drama Team was awarded a Straight Superior
5A School (only 5 were awarded out of 22 schools) and our play (The Greek Mythology Olympiaganza) took Straight Superiors from all 3 judges.

Utah Theatre Conference
Julie Platt won one of three Outstanding Student Playwright Awards. Out of 60 plays that were student written, her play was selected to be read by UVU student acting majors. She won a $100 cash award
Andrew Nokes won a cash award of $250 for Outstanding Technical Theatre Work. This award was chosen by technical theatre professors from throughout the state. Andrew will also be offered technical theatre scholarships to various schools.

Jordan Education Foundation
Teacher of the Year
Jay Hales received this award based on his excellent teaching of students. He has helped students win scholarships as high as $30,000. He teaches his students to think for themselves enabling their problem solving skills

Teacher of the Year for Riverton High School
Sonja Ferrufino is the Agriscience Teacher of the Year
Clin Eaton, Drama Teacher, was selected as the 2009 Teacher of the year by the Utah National Parks Council, Gingerbread House Festival, Learning for Life
Cody Henrichsen, Forensic teacher. Mr. Henrichsen led the Riverton HS Chapter to earn the Leading Chapter Award in the Sundance District.

April Squires, adviser of The Silver Scribe Newspaper, was selected to serve as a trustee in a new organization, called NewFourth, to teach

Possessing a Facsimile of a Weapon May Result
in 180-day Suspension from School |

| Students and parents are reminded that a new federal law prohibits the use or possession of a weapon or a facsimile of a weapon on school premises. The most popular facsimile of weapons to date include the popular Air-soft guns. The law is very clear that students possessing a facsimile of a weapon at school, regardless of intent, may be suspended for 180 days. |
