High School Make-Up Credit High school students who are interested, eligible, and in need of making up prior failed courses towards making up graduation credit, have many options available. Talk to your school counselor about options, information, and for any questions you may have regarding make-up credit. A few options are provided below: Option 1: Jordan District Summer School: offered through Valley High School. Summer school schedules are available in the RHS Counseling Center in May of the current academic school year. Check with your individual assigned counselor if you have questions regarding which credits or classes you may be in need of making up. These courses are offered for previously failed classes only. Option 2: Riverton High Quarterly Make-Up Packets: are available from the beginning of school through April 29th of the current academic year. Individual Study Packets are only offered for the same previous failed course. Each packet a student completes requires completion of work and passing of a final exam. A student can earn a .25 credit for each packet completed. Packets for the 2008-2009 school year include:
Option 3: BYU Independent Study Courses: are available through Brigham Young University for students interested in making up prior failed classes, students interested in expanding their learning, for students interested in earning additional credit towards early graduation, and students wanting to create more flexibility in one's high school schedule. Students may register over the phone at 800-914-8931 6am to 9pm MST, online at http://elearn.byu.edu, or by mail at BYU Independent Study, 230 Harman Continuing Education Building, Provo, UT, 84602. Visit their link above for a course catalog and description of courses. There is a $35.00 test proctor fee for each test, if taken at Riverton. See your counselor for more information. Option 4: Electronic High School: offers a variety of courses available online. Students may find out what types of courses, costs, and more information about EHS by clicking on the link above or by going to www.ehs.uen.org. There is a $35.00 test proctor fee for each class paid to the main office. See you counselor for more details. **Other options may be available.
